- Use PebbleGo to complete research. Students can create a poster about that topic that includes a picture and 5-7 facts they learned while completing their research. The log in link can be found on our Google Classroom!
- Read for 20 minutes and complete a written response question about the story.
- Listen to Brain Pop Jr. (access through wake id) to create an All About book on a topic). They also enjoy completing the quizzes after the videos or make a map of the video! Brain Pop Jr. offers a lot of fun activities to try out after you watch the video!
- Write you own chapter book- create the characters & setting on day one then add a new chapter each day until your story is complete!
- Create a place value scoot around your house. Write a number and tape them somewhere around the house. Make sure that you number each card. Your child can then write the amount of sticks and dots for that number that correspond to the cards around the house.
- Create word problems and ask students to solve using a number line, counting on, drawing a picture. Ask your child to write out the steps that were needed to complete their work. This allows them to be able to better understand their work/steps required.
- If you have a dice--You roll once, your child rolls a second time to create the tens and ones of a number. Child writes the sticks and dots for those numbers.
- Create a leprechaun trap and write a how to including the steps needed to create their trap.
- Create a diorama using an old shoe box of an animal in their habitat (We will be studying animals and habitats in 4th quarter).
- Create a painting of a bird (what we were studying in EL)
- Creating a bird house for your yard.
- You can do a pinecone with peanut butter and bird seed on a string.
- Your family can make a recipe together and your child can take a picture of each step and then write about each step needed in the process.
- Use recycled paper to create a creation.
Social Studies
- Create a map of their room or any room in your house. Make sure they include a map key for every item located on their map.
- Walk around your neighborhood and ask your child to create a map of the neighborhood.
- Brain Pop Jr. has a lot of videos about landforms they can listen to.
- Ask your child to create a map with different landforms.
- Don't forget the map key!
- Discuss different traditions and customs your family has for holiday's and celebrations.
- Discuss what it means to be a good citizen and create a picture book of 5 things you need to know to be a great citizen.
Science
- Make observations of the moon during the next two weeks. Ask your child to draw a picture of the moon each night and record what phase of the moon they see.
- Discuss different habitats in NC and animals that live in each.
- You can find some information on the
- Your child can use a map of NC to label each habitat in NC.
- See if you can determine animals that live in each habitat.
- Ask your child to pick one animal they are interested in to complete a research project. They can create an animals using materials around the house afterwards.
- Students can listen to any of the Brain Pop Jr. videos or use PebbleGo to research about the sun, moon, balance and motion, or any other topic they find interesting.
Active
- Ask your child to create an obstacle course in the yard using materials at your house. Ask them to complete it 3 times and time them to see how long each round takes. You could even have a little family competition!
- Get a GoNoodle account and complete some indoor recess or brain breaks!
- Visit Cosmic Kids Yoga site for a story and movement!
